One question that everyone asks is “When is the best time to go fishing at Langara Island?”. Our extended season and variety of fishing opportunities throughout the summer tends to offer guests great fishing from early season in May right through until mid September. Langara is fortunate to be home to one of the longest salmon fishing season anywhere on BC’s coast, making all our dates good ones!

Late May to mid June is generally focused on targeting chinook salmon island wide. May & June fish are hot, they bite hard and fight harder, this is a great time for solid chinook (king) salmon fishing. By mid June migrating coho (silver) salmon make their way to the waters of Langara. July and August offer fishing for chinook, coho and other species. During this time is also when we see some of the bigger chinook salmon of the year cruising the Langara and Graham Island shorelines. Our focus in later August and early September is generally on big northern coho salmon. This is a super exciting fishery, with acrobatic fish that crush baits and scream reels.

Halibut and bottom fishing is consistent from late May to mid September. Bottom fish do move around throughout the season, but this fishery is very good all season long.
