HALIBUT & BOTTOM FISHING

One of the big perks of choosing Langara Island Lodge for your next fishing trip is the opportunity to explore the westside of Langara and Graham islands. This area, about a 20 minute run from our docks, is home to what is arguably the most bountiful bottom fishing found anywhere in British Columbia.

The ‘West Side’ as it is commonly referred to at Langara offers arm burning action for halibut and lingcod all season long. Fishing this stunning area is a special part of the trip. As you wrap around Langara’s north west corner there is the Langara Island Lighthouse, one of only two manned lighthouses in BC. On a clear day, a gaze north will have you laying eyes on the distant peaks of Alaska. If you prefer more protected waters, there is also excellent halibut fishing on Langara’s eastern shoreline.

Your bottom catch will be cleaned, vacuum packaged and flash frozen at the lodge so you can enjoy it with friends and family on your return home.

Calm Protected Waters

At Langara Island Lodge there are no long runs to the fishing grounds and there is always have protected waters to fish. Our halibut and bottom fishing grounds are about a 20 minute run from the lodge.

Larger halibut are found on Langara's western shores, while smaller halibut are plentiful on Langara's east side. You can be assured all members of your group will be comfortable and safe when on the water.

What Can we take home?

Halibut slot limits are either two halibut under 90 cm or one halibut over 90 cm, but no larger than 126 cm. Lingcod limits are three lingcod per person. For more information on how your catch will be cared for please visit our Catch Care page.
