July Fishing Starts Strong
After a cool, windy June, summer has finally come to Langara. This past week has seen blue skies and little to no winds. Fishing really has been excellent, a continuation of the trends we have seen over the past few weeks. Acres of herring have been schooling in numbers not witnessed in many years. From Langara Lighthouse to Andrews Point, hungry bubble-feeding humpbacks and large pods of orcas have been on the cruise, even passing by the Island Lodge docks, much to everyone’s delight.
Boulder Bay continues to be the local hub, attracting waves of salmon on both the flood and ebb tides. Seath Point, just east of Boulder, has also been coming online in the last few days, which is exciting! There are ample cohos off the north end of Langara and milling around offshore, with plenty of hungry chinooks in the mix.
