A Wild Wet Week At Langara
Mid August has brought an interesting mix of weather and fishing conditions. We saw some of our wettest days of the season over the past week, with spots of sunshine scattered between. There were also strong gusting winds on the westside of the island making for some incredible storm watching but some tough conditions for bottom fishing. With storms on the west, the east side of Graham and Langara islands have offered calm, protected waters with very pleasant conditions.
There were a few slower days of fishing but it seems to have picked up over the last two days again, with a fresh push of chinooks along Langara's eastern shores. There has also been a handful of nice fish at Marchand Reef and Boulder Bay which is encouraging. Coho fishing remains strong and has kept everyone entertained when the chinooks have played hard to get. Offshore fishing at deeper pulls seems to be the play right now, with herring balls found deep on Langara's east side.
Cohoe Point Tyee
Big Fish of the Week
This was the big fish of the week, a stubby specimen caught and released at Cohoe Point. It was a relatively quiet morning for guest Travis and his friends Ty and Justin until this chinook started peeling line off a back rod.
Guide Mike measured the fish out to 40.5 inches long, with a thick 26 inch girth, before release. Nice work guys! See some more pics here.
