An Epic Late June at Langara
Langara Island really has been abuzz all week, and the fishing, well, it's been bananas! 🍌 There has been some epic chinook fishing; the coho salmon have arrived in droves, and bottom fishing has had everyone hangin' on! A pod of resident orca whales was on cruise control, navigating the top end of Langara Island. There were about 30 animals, with many calves frolicking beside their moms. There was also a handful of Pacific white-sided dolphins playing amongst the pod, a rare sight!
Herring has been piling up on the western shores of Langara, with acres of baitfish frothing on the surface. Bald-headed eagles have been feasting from above while salmon follow the bait from below. Those in search of a big fish have been soaking their baits along the Graham Island shoreline. There's been a handful of fish over 30 pounds this week, which has made for exciting tides. Besides the incredible fishing this week, there have also been some other wonderful events to celebrate.
Came for the Birthday
Stayed for the Fishing
A very special guest joined us at Island Lodge this week to celebrate his pop's 50th birthday. Twelve-year-old Westley Wade was out there lighting it up as proud Mom and Dad watched on. Happy 5-0 Chop! Wishing you many, many happy returns. 🎂
