Over the 30 years that Island Lodge has been in operation, there have been a handful of guides who just leave an indelible mark on the place and all the people they met along the way. In 2011, Bill Murray, who had previously guided at Peregrine Lodge, made his way to Langara Island. He was an instant favorite of guests and fellow guides alike. Bill and his partner, Deb, have chosen to fully embrace retirement life, dividing their time between Vancouver Island and Arizona. 

We asked Bill what his best memories while at the lodge were, and amazingly enough, he actually remembered! "There are so many great memories that it all kind of blurs together, but in a good way. When I was asked to run the brand new Coho boat and so many of my team told me I earned that boat, I realized that I was a big part of the guide staff".

Billy, is there anything you're going to miss? "I'll miss all the people I spent so many fine years guiding. And of course I'll miss all the times after work, talking about the day and having some laughs with a Clamato beverage, my favorite. I'll also really miss the feeling a part of that special group of anglers."
