Early August Highlights

Early August usually has us fishing well known spots such as Bruin Bay, Gunia Point and Boulder. This year our first week has been a bit different, with the better chinook fishing being found on the eastern shores of Langara Island. Cohoe Point, Little Mac and McPherson Point have had good snaps of fish. These fish roll in on the flood tide to feed on the herring and needle fish pushed down from Langara Rocks.

Coho fishing offshore continues to be nothing short of spectacular, with lots of bent rods, acrobatic fish and a fair share of tangles! Halibut fishing on Graham Island's western flats has proved very productive. Again, the flood tide is the best time, with some monster 200+ pound halibut released this past week. Lots of nice turkeys (halibut in 20-50 pound class) have been caught as well.

Hang on to that rod!

Fish of a Lifetime

The big fish have been a bit trickier to come by this past week, but at Langara Island you're only a bite away from the fish of a lifetime.

Guest Liam Gallagher was in experienced hands with head guide Mark MacAneely, as they battled this 43.5 pound chinook caught at Channel Reef.
