A lifelong guide, Mike Pearson joined the Langara Island Lodge team in 2019 after almost two decades of guiding on Vancouver Island. A valued member of our guide staff, with his trademark shades, Mike has committed his life to not only fishing, but to protecting salmon stocks along BC's coast. 

What do you do when you're not at Langara?

I spend my time working with Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans in a few different aspects, helping to ensure there are fish to catch in the future. It's a fun job that has given me the opportunity to visit some incredible areas in British Columbia. When I'm not working I enjoy fishing in lakes and rivers on Vancouver Island. My home time is focused on family and if I ever get a free day, you can expect to find me watching premier league football.

What's the best part about your job at Island Lodge?

The best part of working at LIL is getting to meet and interact with our fantastic guests, while experiencing world class fishing opportunities. I love fishing now just as much as when I first started and it's pretty nice to be able to share this area and this fishery with people from around the world.

What's one of the main memories of Langara you look back on?

I have been guiding for nearly 20 years and in my time at Langara I have been able to have more big fish encounters than I previously had in my entire career. The fishing here is like nowhere else in BC!
