This year will mark the 25th guide season for Ryan 'Chopper' Lim at Langara Island Lodge. Chop as he is known by most, started guiding at the lodge in 1999 and is one of our longest serving guide members. Chop is also an integral part of our pre-season crew, helping rig boats and prepping our fleet each season. 

If you've had the pleasure of fishing with Chop aboard the Blackfish boat you'll know he personifies everything a professional guide should be: knowledgeable, fun, experienced and easily one of the fishiest guys on the coast! 

What's the best part about your job at Island Lodge?

Cut plugging. Best way to fish in my opinion. And the people, new faces and long time guests who come back as friends. Being lucky enough to spend some days in Haida Gwaii each year is pretty spectacular.

What's one of the main memories of Langara you look back on?

Guiding Judy Stradiotti into a 70lb Chinook way back in my early days, exploring new areas to fish with the fellas, and, fun fact, I met my wife at the lodge 22 years ago!
