The 2026 Season Kicks Off

The 2025 season at Langara Island Lodge has officially begun! The lodge welcomed our first guests on the 24th, a joyful day after many months of preparation. Going forward, we'll be sending out our weekly newsletter to keep you updated on the fishing and fun at Island Lodge. We hope you follow along and look forward to welcoming many of you this summer.

Langara is certainly buzzing with wildlife already. Humpback whales have been cruising local waters. A pod of orcas was spotted offshore, and there was even a sea otter sighting at Andrew's Point. Keep an eye out for the little furry fella. Sea otters are a very rare sight in Haida Gwaii.

This salmon fishing has been off to a good start as well, with some nice sized fish around, lots of bait, and relatively nice conditions. There was some wild weather during our second trip, but that has and we're back to westerly winds that should be bringing some more pleasant weather.

Pre-season preparations

Boats are in the water!

Our crew has been busy getting the fleet into the water. Island Lodge has a total of 18 guided boats, perfectly suited for groups of 2-4. Our trusted head guide, Mark Mac, has been working on preparing boats since early March. This included a full refurbishing of four of our main guide boats, they're now looking like new!
