The Biggest Fish Of The Season
It's been another big fish week at Langara Island Lodge! The hotspot over the past few days has been Marchand Reef, right across from the lodge on the Graham Island shoreline. Marchand is a fun spot to fish and only about a three minute run from from the lodge docks! Other popular areas have been Seath Point, which continues to produce solid action for chinooks and cohos, and Boulder Bay.
Andrews Point on Langara Island's east side has had some epic coho action, as has Langara Rocks and offshore McPherson Point. Last week's heavy northwest winds made access to Langara's west side difficult but the winds have subsided and we're once again able to access some of the excellent bottom fishing off the lighthouse area. Light variable winds are forecasted for the next week.
Channel Reef Monster
Here's a Big Fish Story
On July 18th the Raven boat slid into Channel Reef for the first push of the ebb tide. The timing couldn't have been better as this 56.5 pound chinook salmon met them with a screaming bite. Guide Tommy and guest Landon Poffenroth both breathed a sigh of relief as this specimen was bagged after a wild fight. Measuring 47 inches (length) by 30 inches (girth), the fish was returned to the water and kicked off strong to swim another day.
