Wrapping up a Jubilant July

This week has been truly exceptional! The end of July has brought with it a bounty of big fish, unforgettable wildlife encounters, and a mix of wind, warm sunshine, and, of course, the occasional Haida Gwaii rainstorm. The marvelous fishing we've enjoyed all season continues, including the biggest chinook salmon of the season caught minutes from the lodge! .

On Monday morning, a pod of transient orcas cornered a lone bull sea lion offshore of Seath Point, creating a scene reminiscent of National Geographic. Transient orcas are mammal eaters, with a taste for seals and sea lions, while resident orcas feed on salmon. What a way to wrap up the month. Here are the latest happenings from Langara Island Lodge...

Flying the Flag

For a Fly Guy

How many guides have ever had a flag designed in their honor? Not many, but this one was well deserved for the one and only Tommy Tyee. He was ready to fly it for the rest of the season, but we all told him he has to take it down after this trip is over 😉.
